Loss of control: the parachute was released (ERR CRASH_CHECK-2)
What ArduPilot says:
- ERR CRASH_CHECK-2 (Subsys 12, ECode 2)
With a parachute enabled (CHUTE_ENABLED 1), the copter's attitude stayed more than 30° from the controller's target for 1 s while the barometer showed it losing height, starting from above CHUTE_ALT_MIN. ArduPilot judged control lost and released the parachute; “Parachute: Released” comes with it, and the motors are stopped first unless CHUTE_OPTIONS says otherwise. Without a parachute this code is never written.
What to do, most likely first
A motor, ESC or propeller failed, and the copter could no longer hold its attitude.
CheckBefore the release one output in RCOU sits at maximum and the attitude (ATT) leaves its target.
FixInspect the power train of the arm that failed and replace what is damaged; repack the parachute as its maker describes.
An aggressive manoeuvre or a tune that oscillates held the attitude error above 30° for a second.
CheckATT.DesRoll and ATT.Roll (or pitch) swing apart while all motors still respond.
FixTune the copter before trusting it with a parachute, and fly smoothly in modes that limit the lean angle.
Parameters to look at
| Parameter | What it is |
|---|---|
CHUTE_ENABLED | Parachute release enabled or disabled |
CHUTE_ALT_MIN | Parachute min altitude in meters above home |
CHUTE_OPTIONS | Parachute options |
CHUTE_CRT_SINK | Critical sink speed rate in m/s to trigger emergency parachute |
