What an ArduPilot message means and what to do about it

Українська

The on-board log chip is being erased or repaired

WarningLogging and storage

What ArduPilot says:

Boards that log to their own flash chip look after it themselves. “Chip erase started” and “Chip erase complete” frame a full erase, which can take a minute or more; nothing is logged in between. “Log recovery complete” means that at start-up a damaged log was found and everything from that point to the end of the chip was erased. “No last page of log N …” means the end of log N could not be found, so that log cannot be listed or downloaded properly.

What to do, most likely first

  1. You asked the ground station to erase the logs.

FixWait for “Chip erase complete” before arming; arming earlier fails with “Logging not started”.

  2. The firmware was changed and the new one stores logs in another layout: it erases the chip at its first start.

FixNothing to fix. Download the logs you need before changing firmware next time.

  3. Power was cut while a log was being written, and the damaged part was cleaned up (“Log recovery complete”).

FixDisarm before unplugging the battery: disarming closes the log cleanly.

  4. “No last page of log” keeps appearing: the chip's contents are inconsistent.

FixDownload the logs that can still be read, then erase all logs from the ground station.
