Two serial ports are joined straight through
What ArduPilot says:
- Passthru disabled
- Passthru timed out
- Passthru enabled
SERIAL_PASS1 and SERIAL_PASS2 name two serial ports to be connected to each other, so that a program on the computer can talk through the flight controller to a device on another port (a GPS with its maker's set-up program, for example). While it is enabled, the two ports do not do their normal work: the first is usually your ground-station link. It ends when no data has come from the first port for SERIAL_PASSTIMO seconds (“Passthru timed out”) or when SERIAL_PASS2 is set back to -1.
